Holyrood Abbey site visit

The model which we will be constructing and testing is based on one of the quadripartite aisle vaults in the south aisle of the partially collapsed Holyrood Abbey in Edinburgh. Dr. Theodossopoulos took us around the ruined abbey, providing us with much insight into the various structural components, explaining both their form and function, as well as giving us a comprehensive history of the site.
Our model will be a quarter-scale replica of the aisle vault at Holyrood; it was therefore necessary to record the dimensions of the actual vault in order to confirm the dimensions of our model. The dimensions of the vaults in the 4th and 5th bays from the west end of the church were measured using a measuring tape and are shown in the figures at the bottom of this section. Key observations
